Annual Meeting Entertainment Is Booked!

Each year, South River EMC is pleased to offer an opportunity to all member-owners of the Cooperative to gather for fellowship and to hear of the business of their Cooperative. This event is the Annual Meeting of Members, which will be held on April 12, 2012 at the Crown Arena and Theatre in Fayetteville.

Entertainment (6:00- 7:25 p.m.) Hip Pocket:
Hip Pocket was formed in 2008 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and has since taken the music world by storm. Recipients of the "2009 Favorite New Artist Award" at The CBMA's -- Hip Pocket is sure to leave you wanting more. Traveling up and down the East Coast and captivating audiences with a wide variety of music including party, Beach, Motown, soul, hot new country and everything in between. The group also has an unparalleled harmonies, and a stage presence so energetic, you'll break a sweat just watching.

Member are Little John Thompson, aka LJ, on bass and vocals; Van Stuckey, aka Dick Diamond, on guitar; Jeremy Thomas, or Big Jerm, on drums; Michael Maffeo, or M&M, on sax and vocals; Steve Edmunds, aka Sir Nashville, on keys and vocals; and Eric Stephenson, or Easy E, on lead vocals.

Hip Pocket is definitely a band you'll want to keep your eye on in the years to come.


Nominations Made:

This committee, made up of a representative from each of the directorate districts, made recommendations for directors from districts 3, 5 and 7. Terms of office in these three districts expire in 2012. Anyone interested in running for a seat in any of the districts up for election in 2012 can could have contacted any member of the committee by January 1. Members can be placed on the ballot by submitting an authorized petition form 30 business days prior to the annual meeting. The petition must include the full name of the member and the district which they wish to represent. The petition must also contain the printed names, addresses and telephone numbers of at least 150 South River EMC members. Anyone interested in obtaining an authorized petition form should contact Kathy McPhail at 910-230-2980.

Henry D. Gilmore, of Fayetteville, was the winner of a retired 2006 GMC truck at the 2011 Annual Meeting.
