Job Title: Customer Service Representative 1

Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist and greet customers/members and the general public upon entering the facility; develop and maintain positive member relations through courteous and efficient service to members; Accurate accounting records and bills; Collecting/posting payments accurately; Address/member information updated as needed; Provide accurate account adjustment information as needed; Timely response to member inquiries and complaints. Updating and maintaining cashier reports, daily and monthly. To graduate in the knowledge of all processes, procedures and guidelines in the customer service area. Including, but not limited to: Communicate with consumers regarding electricity use and ways to conserve. Prepare assigned reports. Provide assistance to other customer service personnel and help maintain good employee morale; Complete annual personal and department goals. Accounting for daily and monthly cash receipts and balancing cash to records. Participate and assist with the Cooperative’s annual meeting. Be knowledgeable concerning South River Electric Membership Corporation’s service rules and regulations, rates and bylaws; Knowledge of customer information and billing software and the ability to help explain/solve member bill issues that may arise. Report problems and conditions promptly, which warrant immediate resolution. Personal productivity and adherence to schedules and deadlines for assigned work; Ability to file, maintain records and uphold confidentiality and security; Performance of related duties as assigned or necessary.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Should include direct contact with customers, either by phone or in person. Previous receptionist and/or cashier experience helpful. Also, helpful to have utility experience or a thorough understanding of a utility, especially a cooperative.

Job Knowledge:

Knowledge of service area is desirable. Computer proficiency required. Must have full knowledge of the Cooperative’s programs, processes, rules and regulations needed to effectively perform this job.

Abilities and Skills:

Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality in the performance of duties and responsibilities of the job. Must have good written and oral communication skills, good decision-making skills, good mathematical skills, and be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must have considerable skills in effectively dealing with a variety of people under different and sometimes difficult circumstances. Must be proficient in the use of a computer have experience with Microsoft Office and general business acumen.

Required to pass a physical examination and drug test when employed.

Job Title: System Engineer

Responsibilities and Duties:

System Studies; Construction Work Plan Development and Implementation related functions; Long Range Planning; Sectionalizing Studies; and/or coordination issues; Performing work on energized and de-energized equipment; Assisting in establishing yearly departmental goals; Preparing assigned reports; Supporting departmental operations/goals and contributing to improved cost, quality, productivity and/or a competitive position for the cooperative; Completing annual personal goals assigned by management; Assisting in training of new personnel; Participating and assisting with the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting as needed; Reporting problems and conditions/situations; which warrant immediate resolution; promptly to management; Attending scheduled meetings (responsible for attending at least 85% of weekly safety meetings); The quality of information provided to auditors and financial consultants within assigned area of responsibility; Personal productivity and adherence to schedules and deadlines for assigned work; Providing assistance to other departments as needed and helping maintain good company morale; The ability to file, maintain records and uphold confidentiality and security; Keeping assigned work area clean, neat and organized at all times; Understanding and personally performing all duties in accordance with applicable safety and Cooperative policy manuals, as well as report to Supervisor hazardous conditions and needed maintenance in the office; Performance of related duties as assigned or necessary.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate Degree in fields relating to electric systems, computer science or similar technologies required. Will consider the combination of power system related course studies in lieu of the two (2) year degree. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience working with electric distribution systems is required, preferably a cooperative. Experience in protective relaying systems and electric distribution system planning is preferred. A basic understanding of RUS requirements for electric coops. preferred.

Job Knowledge:

Working knowledge of engineering software for power system calculations and analysis required. Considerable knowledge of utility practices and procedures essential to maintain a safe work environment for worker(s) and the public; understands power distribution processes and electrical system components; experienced with power system expansion planning; able to perform electric system studies and analyze results; knowledgeable in power system protective relaying; recognizes applicable safety standards and regulations including NESC and RUS; utilizes various computer programs and related hardware; Should be knowledgeable in relaying and system protection methodologies; have a good understanding of the principles and practices of power transmission and distribution systems. Knowledge of service area is desirable. Experience with personal computer required. Must work towards having full knowledge of the Cooperative’s programs, processes, rules and regulations needed to effectively perform this job. Must be able to perform all duties and requirements associated with the position.

Abilities and Skills:

Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality in the performance of duties and responsibilities of the job. Skilled in the safe use of hand held electrical tools, volt /amp meter, breaker and relay testing equipment, mechanical tools, laptop computer. Ability to read and comprehend manuals, blue prints, wiring diagrams, instructions, etc.; keep operating records and prepare reports; perform general mathematical calculations, i.e. power quantities, percentages, etc.; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public. Must have good written and oral communication skills, good decision making skills, good mathematical skills, and multitasking skills. Should be able to communicate information over the phone. Must have considerable skill in effectively dealing with a variety of people under different and sometimes difficult circumstances.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, have basic computer skills, and should be familiar with other general office equipment. Must be able to organize and carry out delegated work and handwriting must be neat and legible.

Physical Requirements:

Required to pass a physical examination and drug test when employed. Must have the physical ability to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job, which include, but are not limited to: talking, seeing,hearing, walking, complex eye and hand dexterity sitting, bending, lifting. This position may require occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 80 pounds and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, and creative problem solving. Daily travel required in normal course of job performance. Hazards common to working around high voltage power systems exist.
