South River EMC once again partnered with the Fayetteville SwampDogs and brought a week long kids camp to J.P. Riddle Stadium during the 2013 summer. Are you looking for the perfect summer experience for your youngster? The SwampDogs Kids Camp is a great place to learn the skills of the game from the people that know them best.
Campers must be between five and 12 years old. This summer, the SwampDogs held a week long camp at J.P. Riddle Stadium: June 17-20. The camp day started at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and ran until 2 p.m. In addition to the fun and excitement of working with the players and coaches, all campers received a free SwampDogs t-shirt, lunch and a ticket to that night's SwampDogs game. South River EMC gave four scholarships per day. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please mail or e-mail (email@example.com) the following information to our office: student’s name, address, age and daytime phone number. Please place the words “camp scholarship” on the envelope or subject line. Four names will be drawn randomly for each camp.
Scholarships only cover the cost of the camp. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from JP Riddle stadium on the day of the camp. The camp begins with a chance for all the campers to get their arms and legs loose. After stretching, campers will go from station to station learning the skills of the game from their counselors (the SwampDogs players and coaches). After lunch, campers will compete in an actual game on the same field used by the SwampDogs.
"The ongoing partnership between the Fayetteville SwampDogs and South River EMC has proven to be one of mutual benefit and fun," said Vice President of Member Services and Pulic Relations Catherine O'Dell, South River EMC. "Our members get the benefit of sending their children to a top notch sports camp while having loads of fun! This camp and the associated scholarships are one more way South River EMC demonstrates our commitment to the communities where we work and live."
"We are pleased to once again be teaming with South River EMC for our 2013 instructional camps," said Director of Operations Darrell Handelsman. "They truly share our philosophy of giving back to the children of our community and we are proud to be a partner with them. We have seen camp attendance grow every season and look forward to another summer of fun and instruction."
