Cooperative Crews Help Restore Power After Snow Storms

South River Electric Membership Corporation crews headed to Virginia to assist sister cooperatives, Southside Electric Cooperative and Central Virginia Electric Cooperative, to restore power after a record-breaking snow storms hit the area Friday and Saturday.

South River EMC employees Craig Ulecki, Derek Avery, Earl Underwood, Nathaniel Lucas, Bradley Bullard, Tom Carter, Troy Dailey, Timmy Williams, Craig Jackson and Eric Simpson traveled with five cooperative vehicles to help restore electric service at Southside Electric on Saturday and then onto Central Virginia Electric in Colleen, Virginia on Sunday.

“We are all too familiar with the wrath of Mother Nature and the impact it can have on an electric system and we realize we dodged the bullet on the ice storm a week ago, therefore we are pleased to send help to our sister cooperatives in Virginia to assist with their restoration efforts,” said South River EMC CEO & Executive Vice President Buddy G. Creed.

South River EMC is a locally-owned and operated electric cooperative, which provides electric service to 42,000 homes, farms and businesses in parts of Harnett, Cumberland, Sampson, Johnston and Bladen counties.
