News5/5/2010 South River EMC Assists In DevelopmentSouth River EMC recently made a $500,000 low-interest loan to the River Landing Center, LLC to assist with infrastructure development for the new mixed-use development, located off of Andrews Rd. in Fayetteville. The development, which will be named Patriot’s Park, is on a 100-acre tract of land next to Pine Forest High. It will consist of: a four building business park, over 100 single-family homes and more than 175 apartments.
The first commercial building will be a 46,000 square foot multi-level building, which will serve as the headquarters for Fayetteville defense contractor the Logistics Company, Inc. The remaining three facilities will be built to suit once tenants are found.
River Landing Center, LLC is a partnership between the Logistics Co., Inc. CEO Lawrence Walsh and Developer John Koenig.
“South River EMC is committed to helping our community to grow,” said South River EMC CEO and Executive Vice President, Buddy G. Creed.” Patriot’s Park is an indication that our economy my be turning around and, for the Fayetteville area, that is in large part due to the population boom resulting from the relocation of the Forces Command headquarters to Fort Bragg.”
The entire project is expected to be completed in six to eight years. One corner of the park may end up being designated for public use and become home to a new City of Fayetteville fire station. South River EMC will be providing electric service to the development.
South River EMC is a locally-owned and operated electric cooperative, which provides electric service to 42,000 homes, farms and businesses in parts of Harnett, Cumberland, Sampson, Johnston and Bladen counties.
