We have the perfect summer experience for your youngster! Consider placing your child in a SwampDogs kid camp, which is a great place to learn the skills of baseball from the people that know them best.

Campers must be between five and 12 years old. This summer, the SwampDogs have two day camps left at J.P. Riddle Stadium: July 18 and August 1. The camp day starts at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. In addition to the fun and excitement of working with the players and coaches, all campers received a free SwampDogs t-shirt, lunch, autograph session and a ticket to a SwampDogs game.

If you're interested in applying for a scholarship, please mail (South River EMC/ SwampDogs Camp/ PO Box 931/ Dunn, NC 28335) or e-mail ( the following information to our office: student’s name, address, age and daytime phone number. Place the words “camp scholarship” on the envelope or subject line. Submission deadlines are: July 11 and July 25.

Scholarships only cover the cost of the camp. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from JP Riddle stadium on the day of the camp. The camp begins with a chance for all the campers to get their arms and legs loose. After stretching, campers will go from station to station learning the skills of the game from their counselors (the SwampDogs players and coaches). Campers will compete in an actual game on the same field used by the SwampDogs.

"The ongoing partnership between the Fayetteville SwampDogs and South River EMC has proven to be one of mutual benefit and fun," said Vice President of Member Services and Pulic Relations Catherine O'Dell, South River EMC. "Our members get the benefit of sending their children to a top notch sports camp while having loads of fun! This camp and the associated scholarships are one more way South River EMC demonstrates our commitment to the communities where we work and live.

You can sign your son and/or daughter up for one day, two days or all three. A camp day costs $50, two days $90, all three is $120. All costs are per camper. Space is limited, so make sure to reserve your spot today! For more information call the SwampDogs at (910) 426-5900.
