Power Source VolunteersIn 2000 South River EMC established the Power Source Volunteers. The Power Source Volunteers is a group of volunteers who work on behalf of the Cooperative as goodwill ambassadors in the community to enhance South River EMC's ongoing public relations efforts. Each year they hold fundraising events which benefit students in the South River EMC service area through scholarships, as well as host giveaways. The Volunteers are comprised of a member representing each directorate district within the Cooperative's service area. The members of the Power Source Volunteers are; Terry Wimbly, chairman; Betty Amos, vice-chairman; Joanne Starling, secretary; Allan Becker, treasurer; Dixie Coats; Janice Norris; Brenda Tyndall; Vicky Walker; Iris Lucas; Janice Edwards; and Lynda Creed. Catherine O'Dell and Kathy McPhail are the cooperative representatives in the group. The Power Source Volunteers have teamed with the United Way of Harnett County to hold an annual Oyster Roast. This event was held for the first time on March 21, 2002. The attendance was great and the event is expected to grow each year! In addition to the Oyster Roast, the Volunteers have held several fundraising events. They currently are selling South River EMC Historical Afghans.
