New members of South River EMC get acclimated easily with the help of the Welcome Series of videos.
This video series engages new members from the beginning of your membership journey. Introducing you to the Cooperative and how being a member is superior to a customer, how to use the member portal, your account number and so much more. The videos are sent a couple weeks apart in the following order:
1st – Introduction to South River EMC (7-10 days after service starts)
2nd – Understanding your South River EMC bill (3-4 days after the first bill is sent)
3rd – Energy Advisor (3-4 days after the second bill)
Our communication with you doesn’t stop here. Members on standard billing (not SmartPay), will receive an e-mail message at the mid-point in your billing cycle (about 16 days in) with the current amount of energy use (and cost of energy used) and a prediction of your bill (energy only) at the end of the of the cycle. This is done based on weather forecasts/modeling and energy-use patterns.
This tool can help you to make informed decisions regarding energy use to impact your bill, increase awareness of weather impacts on energy use and potentially alert you of issues within your home, a water heater leak perhaps.
After receiving service for 13 months, you will begin to receive a Smart Energy Profile each month by email. Residential members of South River EMC now receive a report designed to help you better manage your energy use. The goal is to provide you key energy information to:
- Answer typical questions about how energy is used in your home.
- Identify the major drivers of energy use in the home.
- Show how your use compares to the previous month and the previous year.
- Provide meaningful recommendations for energy savings.
This program ties in with your billing history, uses actual outside temperature information, saves your home profile (for ease of future use), and presents a detailed bill analysis in straightforward terms. Smart Energy Profile provides a step-by-step process for inputting your home profile and completing the analysis.
You'll be able to select the items in your home that contribute to your energy costs, just be sure to edit your profile so you can see what implementing recommended tips does to your electric bill.
